Paul first became involved in Salvage as assistant Salvage Master for Wijsmuller Salvage in 2000.
He was promoted to Salvage Master in 2002 and to Senior Salvage Master in 2005.

Paul has been involved in numerous and varied emergency response and wreck removal operations all over the world including high profile cases like the emergency response operation of the HYUNDAI FORTUNE off Yemen and the parbuckling and refloating of the REPUBBLICA DI GENOVA in Belgium.

In 2007 He was appointed as Operation Manager, but remained actively operationally involved, as Project Manager in complex cases like the RENA in New Zealand and many others.

In 2012 Paul was promoted to COO of Svitzer Salvage and remained in that position during the merger with Titan Salvage in 2015. He was responsible for the operational integration of the two companies, which was successfully completed.

In 2018 He joined SMIT Salvage and has been extensively involved in the operations of the MAERSK HONAM, NEW DIAMOND and recently FSO SAFER and FREMANTLE HIGHWAY. Next to being directly involved in salvage operations he is also heading the research and development program for SMIT Salvage. In this role extensive research was done with respect to fires on board container vessels and car carriers with special attention to Li-ion batteries.
