Singleton, Gemma

With over 15 years of experience in marine science, Gemma’s work is focused on the protection, restoration, and sustainable management of the ocean. Her expertise spans both national and international projects, with a strong emphasis on addressing marine biodiversity loss and managing offshore environmental impacts. Gemma has held roles both in the private and public sectors, including as an environmental consultant for a global geo-physical consultancy leading on EIAs for the O&G sector, to her current role as International MPA Specialist at the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC), where Gemma works with the UK government and international partners to deliver evidence-based advice.

Gemma’s recent work has seen her lead on several capacity building projects for Overseas Development Assistance funded countries such as Senegal, Sri Lanka, Vanuatu and Madagascar, under the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP).  This has included both national and regional level projects such as her support to the South Asian Seas Environment Programme (SACEP) ensuring emergency response preparedness across its member countries.
