Dr. Abigail Renegar is a research scientist with the National Coral Reef Institute at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she is the director of the Marine Toxicology Laboratory and the Coral Histology Laboratory, and co-director of the Onshore Coral Nursery at NSU’s Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Ecosystems Research. Dr. Renegar's primary research interests are the experimental evaluation of the impacts of land-based sources of pollution and climate change on coral reef biology and ecology. Her current research program centers on establishing the acute and chronic effects of exposure to a broad range of chemical contaminants on scleractinian corals and other reef organisms, in order to provide science-based support for management strategies that promote coral reef health and resilience.
