James Monnington is a geospatial marine scientist with 14 years' experience in the marine sector. He joined Xodus in 2012 as a GIS/EIA consultant and part-time PhD investigating interactions between offshore wind farms, commercial fisheries and marine ecosystems in the Irish Sea, before formalising Xodus' geospatial offering and developing a significant in-house capability. He is a strong advocate of leveraging digital approaches to improve efficiency, efficacy and decision making in marine energy and has a keen interest in well-designed visualisations and applications that lead to better engagement and communication between developers, project teams, regulators and stakeholders.
As Xodus’ Global Geospatial Director he is responsible for GIS development, innovation and delivery across a range of disciplines, including environmental engineering, environmental impact assessment, maritime risk, site selection, routing assessments, cable burial risk studies, spatial Multi-Criteria Analysis (sMCA), Levelised Cost of Energy (LCoE) modelling, data management, GIS tool/application development and training.
