Dr Annabelle Nicolas-Kopec is a Senior Technical Advisor at ITOPF. She has over 14 years of experience in the oil and chemical spill industry, having responded to over 20 major shipping incidents worldwide including tanker crude spills, bunker fuels, and chemical spills in areas of high sensitivity. She provides advice on clean-up measures, environmental and economic impacts, and compensation with on-site and remote expertise.
In addition to her on-site work, Annabelle leads working groups on HNS, Plastics, and ESG. She is heavily involved in preparedness activities focussed on alternative fuels. Annabelle is the co-author of several publications, including the IMO HNS Marine Response Manual and some of the ITOPF Technical Information papers. She is a member of WG1 of GESAMP and a Fellow at the Royal Society of Chemistry. She holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Cambridge.
