Jordheim, Ola

During the 1990s, Ola was a sailor on traditional sailing vessels, Wooden boat builder and Sailmaker. In the 2000s, he became a Master Mariner, with office jobs in the maritime Industry, Port Superintendent, Port of Tønsberg, Norway

During the 2010, Ola was Senior Engineer in Norwegian Coastal Administration, Department of Environmental Emergency Response. Responsible for oil spill equipment on Norwegian Coast Guard vessels, responsible for the Norwegian Emergency Towing Service 2014-2019, member of task group for vessel and shipwreck related incidents, hereunder legacy wrecks and operations related to oils spills and oil removal operations. He was an On-Scene-Coordinator on sea on several incidents on the Norwegian Coast.

After only a short time as employee with the Norwegian Coastal Administration, in 2011, Ola became involved in the campaign for oil removal of several legacy wrecks in the northern areas Vesterålen and Ofoten. Most wrecks in this area are a result of the two battles of Narvik. During mobilization for this campaign, oils spills occurred from a legacy wreck in the Namsenfjord in mid Norway. he had to, on very limited time, stage an oil removal operation also for this wreck, and from this project on, he was always a part of the “subsea division” within their department. In later years he has been engaged in a few wreck removal projects, oil removal projects, and several surveillance projects, mainly on legacy wrecks. As of today, their contractor is processing data from the survey of the “Blücher” sunk in the battels of the Oslofjord in April 1940, and they are planning a survey of another German legacy wreck off the Southern coast of Norway. Hopefully, this is the start of a campaign to survey multiple legacy wrecks on the Norwegian Coast, as there is a very strong need to get fresh knowledge about the status and degree of disruption of these wrecks.
