Hannah is a Marine Operations Manager in the Marine Protected Areas (MPA) team at JNCC. She holds a BSc in Applied Marine Biology and MSc in Marine Resource Management from Heriot Watt University (Edinburgh and Orkney campus – International Centre for Island Technology).
Hannah previously worked as an environmental consultant, writing Oil Pollution Emergency Plan for the oil and gas industry. However, since joining JNCC in 2019, she has been a duty officer responding to environmental impacts of pollution incidents in the UK. She has developed pollution response exercises and provided training to support staff in JNCC to complete their role in the Environment Group in the UK and completed multiple exercise scenarios for both oil & gas and shipping incidents.
When moving to the MPA team in JNCC in 2021, her pollution response work moved from a domestic focus to working with Sri Lanka, the Maldives, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu through the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP). Her role in OCPP has been to manage the provision of emergency response training in each country and supporting the development of pollution preparedness workshops across the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
