Dr. Maria Hartley is the global technical lead for Chevron’s Emergency Management organization and has been with the company for 16 years. Dr. Hartley also manages the Chevron’s Emergency Response Teams (12 teams, 400+ responders), leads the Chevron’s Environmental Response Team, and is the chair of the ipieca Marine Spill Group, advancing the energy industry in emergency preparedness and response globally, in partnership with the United Nations (International Maritime Organization).
Maria received her B.Sc. in Environmental Science from Greenwich University, London (UK) and studied Wildlife Management at the University of Pretoria (South Africa). After receiving her master’s and doctorate degree in ecology from Rice University, she has been teaching Environmental Management as an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the last 15 years and serves on the Rice Advisory Board of the School of Natural Sciences. She is also a board member for International Bird Rescue.
