Ms Chiara Della Mea is Head of Pollution Preparedness and response section, Marine Environment Division at the IMO.
She holds a degree in Political Science in the University of Pisa and a Masters in Marine Management from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada.
She had worked for the Central Institute for Applied Marine Research (ICRAM) and subsequently for the Ministry of Environment in Italy, providing support for negotiating and monitoring the implementation of international cooperation instruments in the field of marine environment protection and conservation.
Before joining the IMO, she was Senior Claims Manager at the IOPC Funds and had handled a number of oil spill cases around the world.
