Interspill 2022 – Opening Day
Posted 21st June 2022
After three years of planning and worry over COVID prompting long discussions on Interspill being a face-to-face, hybrid or online event, today Interspill opens as a pure face-to-face event with three opening keynotes.
The following senior industry leaders open Interspill this morning at 09:30:
- Sander Winckels, Rijkswaterstaat
- Ms Maja Markovčić Kostelac, EMSA Executive Director
- Morten Mikkelsen, IPIECA Chair
They will then tour the very full exhibition and view the poster displays by which time there is the opportunity to network and have lunch.
The Conference starts this afternoon with sessions on:
- Incident Management
- Contingency Planning and Preparedness
- Hazardous and Noxious Substances
- Offshore surface response
- Surveillance Modelling and Visualisation
- Shipping Risks
There is a very interesting Science Workshop on Trends in Propulsion, recognising that the shipping industry is starting to plan the move away from hydrocarbons and how our industry needs to prepare.
The Innovations Workshops will hear presentations on:
- Darcy and Ayles Fernie will launch STRATUS – their new aerial dispersant system
- SpillTech will present their range of spill response tools – these are very suitable for recovery of marine plastics as well as conventional hydrocarbon spill
- SurfCleaner will present the world’s first skimmer/separator hybrid.
At the end of the day there will be Interspill Academy courses provided by IOPC Funds, IGP&I and VNCI as follows:
Pollution response claims and HNS Reporting and Contribution
Darcy/Ayles Fernie- ‘STRATUS an effective aerial dispersant application tool.’
SpillTech- One tool cannot do it all; for doing a good job cleaning up, you need a toolbox!
SurfCleaner – the world’s first skimmer separator hybrid
The day will close with the traditional Exhibition Party!
