Diversity, Equality & Inclusion (DEI) Lunch Event

Following a positive debut at the previous Interspill, this important event will return in 2025.

This will be a 90-minute ‘working lunch’ event, organised by a dedicated group of representatives from OSRL, IMO, IOPC Funds, Ipieca and ITOPF.

The aim is to provide a meaningful forum to discuss experiences and assist the creation of industry best practice regarding DEI in oil spill response. Attending delegates will:

• Share views and opinions regarding the implementation of DEI practices.
• Be introduced to the ‘DEI wheel for oil spill response’.
• Make commitments to implement best practices into their organisations.
• Disseminate the outcomes of the meeting to the wider Interspill community, following the event.

The event will feature poster presentations from leading industry organisations, offering DEI implementation case studies from their own businesses. Delegates will then hold interactive moderated group discussions regarding the ‘spokes’ of the ‘DEI Wheel’ (diverse workforce, inclusive culture, equality and equitability, DEI mindset and responder preparedness), in order to reach implementation conclusions. This will all feed into a topline summary of the event and its findings being provided on the final day of Interspill 2025, as part of the closing plenary talks.
